Last year was a bit rough for me. I never quite got through the January Blahs and ended up spending much of the year mired in writer’s block and depression. As a result, this site suffered. I missed it, would consider updating, and then feel guilty about having not updated in ages. I got to the point where I couldn’t even pull up the site without feeling awful.

No More

It’s a new year and I’m determined to get my act together. First thing’s first, here’s your first Me Monday of 2016. Tomorrow, there’s going to be a list of the highlights and lowlights of the past year. Thursday, the Weekend in Geek will make its triumphant return. Friday, I’ll post my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I know you’re all looking forward to seeing what I thought about it.

Also, yes, I’ll finish my discussion of Disney villains. We’ll see that next week. See, the trick to getting back into the swing of things is just swinging back up onto the saddle and trying not to overthink it. I will admit to the fact that I procrastinated all day when it came to this blog entry. In my defense, I’m recovering from an exhausting New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. I woke up at 8 a.m. on Thursday and finally got to sleep at, like, 9:45 p.m. on Friday. It was a long, long day.

On top of that, some generous partygoer shared their germs with me and I spent the rest of the weekend with some kind of grunge. Whoever was so generous, I appreciate the gesture, but feeling sick and rundown is no fun. There are just some things you don’t share.

The State of the Tegan

I haven’t been updating this site, so what have I been doing with my life?

As you all know, I live at home with my parents. We get along great. We’ve learned how to deal with each other’s quirks and everything. It’s pretty sweet and I live rent-free. I can’t beat that, right?

The thing is, I’m 31 and I need my own space. Unfortunately, I don’t make nearly enough money to afford moving out into my own apartment. My parents solution to this dilemma was, of course, to have one built for me.

There’s a longer story with that and, yes, I’ll be paying rent once I move in, but I’ll have my own apartment with a kitchen and everything! I will be sharing pictures when it’s all done. My Facebook friends are privy to the in-progress shots. So, if you’re not a friend of mine on Facebook, I’m sorry.

That’s been sucking up my mental attention for the past few months. There have been a lot of design decisions to make as well as things to purchase. It’s an exciting and draining process.

Meanwhile, I’ve been doing some fanfic writing. I need to get back to work on my mult-chapter angst piece. That’s on the schedule for this week in between cleaning my room and packing everything to move. I’m super glad that I don’t have to move my stuff very far.

Coming Soon (-ish)

I’ve promised a lot of things in the past. There is so much I want to do with this site and beyond. This year, I’m going to take steps to fulfill those promises. It’s a new year and I’m feeling pretty good about this one. Let’s hope this feeling lasts.
